Cbank: Russis'a cash in circulation exceeds 16 tln rbl

MOSCOW, Jan 13 (PRIME) -- The amount of cash in circulation in Russia increased by 5% in December 2022 to 16.3 trillion rubles as of January 1, 2023, climbing above the threshold of 16 trillion rubles for the first time since the start of observation, the regulator said in a statement on Friday.

Cash in circulation increased by 788.8 billion rubles in December, the fastest dynamics since September 2022, when it increased by 929.9 billion rubles.

At the same time, Russia’s broad monetary base increased by 14% last month to 24.4 trillion rubles as of January 1.

The broad monetary base includes currency in circulation, banks’ cash balances, banks’ correspondent account balances, reserves and deposits with the central bank.
